Cambelts
Cambelts are an important component within your vehicles engine, the purpose of the cambelt is to drive various components such as crankshaft, camshaft, injection pump & water pumps etc all in a timed sequence to ensure the smooth running of your vehicles engine.
Cambelts as with many other serviceable items will wear over periods of time and if not maintained in the correct timely manner can cause expensive engine failure. Manufacturers specify the interval times at which they strongly recommend a cambelt should be replaced.
The cost of replacing a cambelt is significantly less expensive than the cost of repairs that may occur as many internal engine components will become damaged and a full engine strip down and rebuild will often be necessary should the cambelt fail.
At the time of a cambelt replacement it is strongly advised that all tensioners, rollers and water pump are replaced at the same time this ensures that all relative components relating to the cambelt will remain serviceable up until time of the cambelts next due replacement date.

Autocare Motorist tips
When purchasing any used vehicle that has a cambelt fitted be sure to check the date and mileage when the cambelt was last replaced, if there is no evidence of the last date the cambelt was replaced, we strongly advise that the cambelt be replaced at the earliest opportunity.
